Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Da!
A tired, elegant home stands at the corner.
I’ve paused there many times
To see life and love flower
Next to a maturing cherry grove.
That house and its foundation have stood well.
Now, the cherry grove is gone.
Uprooted and displaced.
Young cherry roots are descending
To embrace rich, inexhaustible earth.
New life and hopes strain upward to the sky.
A new foundation is also planted close by.
Hear footprints press the path
Between two doors as people tread
To the rising home. They nurture it
With hope, care and love.
~
I know that footpath will disconnect.
remembered – (no longer needed).
But, memories and expectations will fly
As back porch glances aimlessly spy.
Old elegance and the new cherry grove.
