Open Arms

December 7, 1991

My first remembrance of her —

Open arms, radiant face,

Lyrical laughter, drawn from the depths

Her greeting sung with joy.

Each time we met.

It was the same.

My first remembrance

Relived again.

Her nature? — to give.

Warmth, will and courage.

Like her laughter, it came unhesitantly,

From her heart and soul.

No favorites she.

Each child her offspring delivered

Was given exactly what I received:

Warm, lilting laughter and open arms.

Ask them.

They remember too.
